Our 8th Annual Linked Together Golf Tournament on July 31, 2014 was another success that donated $23,372.00 to the Kelowna Women's Shelter! Thank-You once again to all of our amazing sponsors and contributors ~ we could not have done it without you.
Over the last 8 years the "Linked Together" Golf Tournament has raised $118,296.00!
Our amazing organizer, Lil Miller announced that she will be retiring from organizing the tournament that night. As they say all good things must come to an end, however we are working on a new "Linked Together" Fundraiser for the shelter.
Stay tuned for details.
A big thank you to everyone who participated in the 7th Annual Linked Together Golf Tournament 2013!
Here are some highlights from the event...
In 2012, Esteem Lingerie, partnered with Shannon Lake Golf and PostNet West Kelowna, held their 6th annual Linked Together fun golf tournament to support the Kelowna Women's Shelter. This amazing night raised $28,500 that will be used by the Shelter for their "Children who witness abuse programs".
Over the last 6 years we have raised over $72,000 which goes to support the operation of the Kelowna Women's Shelter and second stage housing - The W.I.S.H House and various counselling programs for children. When we "Link Together" we can stop the cycle of abuse.
If you are interested in golfing in the tournament or in donating items or services for the silent auction or raffle table, please contact Esteem Lingerie.
Power of Being a Girl Conference
A one day event presented by the YMCA-YWCA of the Central Okanagan. Young girls in grade 6 converged at UBCO, listened to inspirational speakers and learned about healthy body image.
The 7th annual event was held on October 18th, 2012. It was a wonderful success!
A testimonial from Kelly Howard (Marketing and Special Events Director):
Dear Angela,
Thank you Angela for your generous contribution to the Power of Being a Girl Conference. From all of us at the YMCA-YWCA and from the 110 Grade 6 girls who benefited from this special day of empowerment ... GIRL POWER to you! Thank you. It was wonderful to work with you and we can’t wait to find any excuse to work with you again soon.
“Angela O’Brien is a champion for women and girls. Her natural, humorous and engaging presentation style on sensitive issue like self-esteem, body image and the “awkward” years was a highlight of the 6th Annual YWCA Power of Being a Girl Conference. We hope to work with Angela again in other girl and women programs as she shares the values we believe builds confident women today.”
